The European Union COSAC's Parliamentary Commission for Parliamentary Affairs, which is being held in Sofia, Bulgaria, has proposed that Kosovo be its permanent member, in the quality of observers until receiving candidate status.
This proposal was made at the request of the Kosovo delegation led by MPs Blerta Deliu Kodra-chairman of the Commission for Integration and Armendi Zemaj, deputy chairman, as well as with support of the union, Christian Vigenini, chairman of the European Affairs Commission.
The proposal was supported by all states present at this conference, and as such I offer Kosovo closer to membership in numerous EU organisations and mechanisms.
At the opening of conference works, Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov emphasises Kosovo's clear perspective on its road to the EU, noting Bulgaria's role in supporting the normalisation of Western European states.
The conference will continue work tomorrow.
Otherwise, at this conference representatives of parliaments from all over Europe and the Western Balkans exchange their views on the best practices between the national parliaments and the European Parliament.
