Representatives of the Serbian Orthodox Church are angry because their recommendation from the recent Assembly about the Kosovo issue has been ignored at all, the Montenegrin media write.
According to the newspaper “Pobjeda”, Church representatives favour a frozen conflict, which cannot be the option for resolving the Kosovo issue.
Montenegrin historian Milovoj Beslin has spoken about why for the Serbian Church Kosovo is spiritual land and why it should be within Serbia's sacred borders, when it entered Serbia in 1912.
I don't want to be cynical, but for the whole capital it's where the safe is. A very packed crate of the Serbian Church is in downtown Belgrade. Everything else is clean politics and ideological rhetoric which the Church has used in large measure”, historian Beslin said.
He points out that he is in the interest of the Church and their Russian promotors preserving the status quo, that is, maintaining the state of frozen conflict.
“Beyond the unresolved Kosovo issue, some things are achieved: allowed to influence Russia's political and economic situation in Serbia, Russia's intentions to destabilise the Balkans and through it destabilise all of Europe. Kosovo's unresolved problem is a permanent source of destabilising and nationalist extremism in Serbia, with a constant, anti-Western and anti-Western wave generated and pro-Russian orientation to the citizens of Serbia”, Beslin says.
According to him, Serbia's “nationalist project has emerged victorious every time the Church was ignored, but Serbia in any such case proved to be losing”.
Kosovo's unresolved “issue is a constant source of nationalist extremism and help Russian aims to destabilise the Balkans”, the historian has said. /Telegraphy/
