Hashim Thaci's brother, Idrizi, conducts the faculty for Xehetari now intends to enter the Bord of “Treps”

The country's older brother, Gani Thaci, has been one of the most influential people in the Kosovo insurance sector. To this day he holds one of the highest positions in the Kosovo Insurance Bureau (BKS). But the same path is being followed by the president's other brother, Idriz Thaci, except the latter in another sector. Exactly in the mining sector.

So far, Idriz Thaci has been locked in this sector through a stonebreaker in Malisheva, which is his property. It's about the blaster “Geo Mineral”, based in Astrazub, Malisheva.

But eventually Thaci has shown other ambitions towards this sector, which goes beyond this stonebreaker. He is also aiming for position in one of the institutions dealing with the adjustment of the mining sector. This is why the president's brother has already been prepared in professional preparation.

ORAinfo has secured two decisions by the Faculty of Genocency at Mitrovica University “Isa Boletini”, which testify how Thaci completed post-diplomical studies at this university last year.

In the decision of the Faculty of Genocency, a copy of which newspapers own, of the nine students accepted at master level, for the academic year 2014-2015, finds the name of Idriz Thaci. The program Thaci conducted his studies is called “Xehetari”.

ORAinfo owns yet another decision with which the Faculty of Genocensities, under the University of Mitrovica “Isa Boletin” has recognized Thaci's right to study.

“Ratified the processor of giving supplementary exams by student Idriz Haxhi Thaci, in master's studies in the Xehetari research programme. The mention gains the right to enroll in master's studies at the Faculty of Genocency, Xehetari Research programme, in 2014-2015”, says the decision.

ORAinfo has asked the officials of this faculty about Thaci's preliminary studies before he was registered for Xehetari. Information official Ahmet Jashari has said that according to notes at the Faculty of Genocency administration at the University of Mitrovica “Isa Boletini”, Idriz Thaci, in 2012 has finished the Faculty of Applied Sciences at Ferizaj.

He enrolled in master's studies at the Geoscience Faculty .Xeethari in the 2014/15 academic year after giving the supplementary exams”, he said.

The president's wife, Lumniye Thaci, works at the same university. Finally, it has been appointed to the faculty of Mechanical and Computer Engineering.

Thaci target institutions

The two main institutions regulating the mining sector in Kosovo are the Commission for Mining and Mineral (KPMM) and the company “Trepca”, which owns almost all of Kosovo's underground wealth.

ORAinfo through safe sources has learned that after conducting studies, Thaci is aiming to assume position at the Board of One of These Institutions. Currently, the Trepca Board has been functional and new members elected.

“Thaqi is aiming at KPM”, have told the newspaper safely. In the KPM mandate is licensing companies intended to invest in Kosovo's mining sector.

In the latest announced competition for members of the Trepca Board, it has been the main criterion precisely of diplomas at the faculty where the president's brother has conducted studies, since he is the only faculty in Kosovo offering studies for the mining sector. Safe sources, close to the mining sector, have told the newspaper that Thaci is known as highly influential in the sector.

“Geo Mineral”, millions in public tender

This impact so far has been presented through the stonebreaker “Geo Mineral”, in which Idriz Thaci figures as owners, according to the Agency for Registering Business (ARBK). This company has big history with public tenders in Kosovo.

“Geo Mineral” deals with mineral extraction and is located in a village in Malisheva, which had long been run by the PDK.

The cornerstone was registered at the ARBK in the month of May 2008 at the time Hashim Thaci had made only five months in the country's prime minister's chair. The company had a powerful start in the business after it was engaged as a subcontractor of “Bechtel-Enka” in building the Kosovo highway, but had won three public tenders from KEK, whose total value is about 1 million and 600 thousand euros.

“Geo Mineral” in 2009 had won a tender worth 1m and 200 thousand euros and another worth of 205 thousand euros. He also won another tender in 2011, and his value was over 150 thousand euros. The tenders concerned building the new pipe line for ordinary water supply for the thermocentral plant “Kosovo B” from the Iber-Lepenc channel, as well as for supply of stone material. /ORAinfo/
