Poland's Parliament, which is dominated by the “Law and Justice” party, has adopted a bill to cut MPs' salaries by 20 percent, following public criticism of financial rewards for ministers.
Parliament passed the law by a majority of 240 votes, while the main opposition parties abstained, writes “Reuters”.
The law will cut MPs' rewards from the current 10,000-Zloty (2,802, U.S.) level a month after former Prime Minister Beata Szydlo last year decided to reward herself and her cabinet ministers with more than 10 average monthly salaries, albinfo.ch conveys.
Since then, support for the ruling party has weakened, and this has been influenced by other factors.
Party leader “Law and Justice” Jaroslaw Kaczynski last month called on ministers to provide their financial rewards for charity and warned pay cuts for MPs.
