The paper quotes a close person with exchanges, under which the former American ambassador to South Korea was called to come from his current post as ambassador to the Philippines to run preparations.
President Donald Trump said Saturday evening that they continue preparations for the June 12th meeting in Singapore and that details are being clarified.
The talks are going very, very well,” said Mr. Trump.
In North Korea, state media confirmed on Saturday that it is the non-resistent “will be” by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to hold a meeting with President Trump.
South Korean President Moon Yae said he asked North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to contact Washington directly to save the June 12th nuclear summit with the United States during the inter-kore meeting the two leaders held on Saturday.
North Korea requested the meeting between Kim and Moon after United States President Donald Trump cancelled the Singapore summit Thursday.
Moon spoke to reporters after meeting with Mr. Kim on the northern side of the border between the two Koreas, in the same village where they met for the April summit.
“We have agreed that the June 12th meeting should be held successfully and that our path towards the nuclear demilitarisation of the Korean peninsula and towards a permanent peaceful system should not be stopped. We've agreed to cooperate with each other on this”.
On Saturday, President Trump said the opportunity to hold the cancelled Singapore summit remains open. He told reporters after meeting with American Joshua Holt, who returned to the United States after being held for two years as a prisoner in Venezuela, that high-level talks with jinn “are going very, very well”.
And I think there's a lot of good will; I think people want to see if the meeting can be held and if there's anything we can do. If we did this and if we were successful in the nuclear demilitarization of the Korean Peninsula, it would be a big achievement for North Korea, wonderful for South Korea, good for Japan and the world, for the United States, and for China”.
President Trump has said that Korean leaders would not affect either power or wealth, as the United States and other countries will provide considerable economic assistance and investment. / VoA
