At Thaci's invitation, Bulgaria's prime minister comes to Kosovo on Monday

He is coming at the invitation of the country's president, Hashim Thaci, who earlier day had held a telephone conversation with him, where, among other things, they had talked about the Sofia Summit, which is estimated important for the journey of Western Balkan states towards membership in the European Union in Kosovo and the prime minister [...]

Bulgaria's “Prime Minister Boyko Borissov comes to Kosovo on Monday at the invitation of President Thaci. He will also meet with Prime Minister Veselin and Prime Minister Haradinaj”, they say in their response. Even in his post, President Thaci had confirmed that he will meet very soon with the head of Bulgaria's executive to co-ordinate about the bilateral agenda, but also the Euro-Atlantic one.

President Thaci had stressed the need to clarify the European perspective for Kosovo, as a precondition for creating a new dynamic in meeting the criteria needed for full EU membership, until the Sofia Summit had praised Kosovo as a new chance in advancing relations with the European Union.

Kosovo's participation in this important summit, which will be held in the month of May in Sofia, Bulgaria, had prompted the Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy's reaction, which according to Spanish media, had told his Bulgarian counterpart that it might not go if participants were Kosovo President Hashim Thaci.

However, days ago, invitations to President Thaci, signed by European Council President Donald Tusk, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and Bulgaria's Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, have been made public.

As chairman of the EU Council presidency, Bulgaria in the month of May is expected to be in charge of leaders of 27 EU nations and 6 Western Balkan countries, among which Kosovo will be among them.
