The story of the woman who abandoned Egypt only because her hair was curly

Eman El - Deeb, an Egyptian young woman, had decided to abandon her homeland in 2016. The reason was not education, work, or partner. This decision came only because of her hair. The 26-year-old curly-haired woman is now popular in Spain, where she currently lives. But in Egypt, where much [...]
The 26-year-old curly-haired woman is now popular in Spain, where she currently lives. But in Egypt, where many women try to copy European standards of beauty, she felt like her hair was a curse, writes Periscope.
The decision to leave was very painful for me. I never thought I'd emigrate”, Eman says.
But I was tired of... getting to the point where I felt I had to go somewhere where my looks wouldn't bother anyone. ”
Eman says that in Egypt, Periscope was equally ridiculed by relatives and strangers alike.
In the first months of working at a bank in Egypt, one of the human resources department would come to me every day with a request to direct hair,” says.
Although the decision to emigrate seems exaggerated, its account will surely give meaning to action.
Most women in Egypt have curly hair. It's a dominant feature. Most, however, are forced at an early age to govern them to meet social expectations of beauty.
He was ridiculed for his hair
Well, when a Facebook group was established in March 2016 to help women care for their natural beauty, the response was great.
Today, when it's been two years since the opening of “Hair Addict”, the group has more than 105 thousand female members, 95 percent of whom have continued interactivity with group content.
The group was founded by 38-year-old Doa Gawish, who himself had suffered because of her hair.
When I was a kid, I used to make fun of my hair... I always run it”, she says.
Doa, who works as an engineer at an American company, is a maniac for telling her personal affairs. Despite her daily management of her hair, she was aware of the danger and had begun to investigate and gather information on how to reduce the effect of the constant burning of her hair.
She had gathered a whole pile of knowledge and had decided to turn it into something worthwhile for others.
The challenge of not burning her hair had begun in July 2016 and has since marked considerable success.
Increasing awareness
Another hair story belongs to 32-year-old Noran Amr, who has not burned her hair for a year. Last month she went to a wedding with her curly hair, which is a natural feature.
The wedding response of the people has been extremely positive. Everyone told me that my hair looks beautiful”, she says.
There's a higher consciousness now. There is also a curly hair culture in Egypt. ”
Noran, credit is given to different groups on social networks, which, according to her, without them was impossible to have a awareness of this level.
Today, there are many Egyptian women who give advice on caring for curly hair.
First Positive Comment
As a result of increased demand, the first curly hair salon has opened this year.
Happened in one of the richest Egyptian neighborhoods, “The study of Currell”, unlike other Egyptian salons, works on the basis of predestination. Some 30 customers a week, most of them young women.
“Trendy is more popular now, especially among young people”, says the hall owner, 33-year-old Sara Safwat.
A guest of the salon named Even Eman felt the difference.
In April 2017, while visiting Egypt, a taxi driver told me about a good hair salon. At first I thought he was joking. Then I realized that he really did. It was the first positive comment on my hair that I had heard in Egypt”, she says. /Periscopi/
