Minister Bytyqi signs agreement in Residence of US Ambassador to Kosovo

Education Minister Shyqi Bytyqi has signed Memorandum Understanding for Kosovo's Peace Corps Volunteer Programme, which he has made known in his official account in FB. American Ambassador Greg Delaway has also attended this meeting.

In the presence of Ambassador of the United States of America to Kosovo, Mr. Greg Delaway, along with Mrs. Darlene Grant, director for Kosovo of the Peace Corps, today we have signed Memorandum of Understanding, which defines the roles and responsibilities of both sides in support of activities related to the Kosovo Peace Corps Volunteer Programme.

At this ceremony, the first signed by Kosovo institutions in the Residence of US Ambassador to Kosovo, Mr. Greg Delawi, I stressed the importance the Peace Corps volunteers have in improving English language teaching in Kosovo, but also in cultural exchange.

To date, Kosovo has welcomed 120 volunteers, for whom our schools and our families have opened the doors and lived together.

MAST reconfirms continued support for the Peace Corps Programme and this partnership will continue to grow and cultivate together, further deepening the special and friendly report between Kosovo and the United States.

Ambassador Delaway cited as a good example the fact that of the 25 volunteers who have nearly completed their service, there are four people who will continue their service for the third year or the fourth year, because they consider that their work has not yet been completed and have strong sense of commitment to Kosovo.

Even the director for Kosovo of the Peace Corps, Mrs. Darlene Grant, stressed that with the open programme in 2014, the Kosovo Peace Corps has been honoured to be the 140th country in service, in the history of the Peace Corps.

Co-operation between the Republic of Kosovo and the Peace Corps opens new windows of opportunity for students, especially those in villages who otherwise would not have access to English language learning with someone whose English language is native.
