European Commission chief: Balkan Integration or Wars

European Commission chief Jean-Claude Juncker said integration of Balkan states into the European Union could be a necessary step to avoid conflicts in the region.

Juncker told Deutsche Welle that accepting former Yugoslav states into the EU could help prevent the launch of a new conflict.

“People in the EU should become aware that the Balkans are on their threshold”, Juncker said. “The war took place there in the 1990s: without their promise of EU accession, we could easily see a repeat of the” conflict.

And for this announcement by Juncker, the British medium wrote “Express.co.uk”, who has named shocking statements the president of the European Commission.

Geographical conventions remain an unresolved issue in the Balkans as the legacy of the region's past.
