The Vetevendosje movement has said that Kosovo's Parliament -- the highest and most important institution of our parliamentary Republic -- has now been blocked by MPs from ruling coalition that do not allow decision-making and normal development of the Parliament's work.
Through a media communique, the Vetevendosje Movement says the impasse of today's Parliament session was not the first case but a recurrent practice since early 2018.
The “Debat for the session held today in terms of interference against the government's illegal wage growth and the need for minimum wage growth has been postponed three times. At that, the vote for the proposed resolution on this intervention has been postponed twice. As has happened at other times, even on other issues, MPs from the ruling coalition attend the beginning of the Assembly hearings but then do not vote and thus allow the quorum to vote and block the works. At the start of today's session, there were quorums, but further work was halted because the vote did not meet the quorum, even though it received the majority of votes from those opposition deputies who voted. The ruling coalition's deputies make Acropolis numbers in the Assembly during the vote to undermine the quorum, because the ruling coalition simply does not have the numbers of votes in the Assembly to keep itself in power”, the VV says.
Furthermore, this political subject says the current ruling coalition “has fallen morally yet without forming”. This, as they claim, was created through fraud before and after elections for narrow interests.
It fanned the government to satisfy all possible partisans and individuals involved until it appointed 70 deputy ministers. This coalition then stood in power through betrayal of promises to citizens before the elections. As if these were not enough citizens were experiencing one of the country's worst socioeconomic situations, due to power cuts and expensive bills, due to increased unemployment and poverty, and as a result of scandals with serious consequences as exemptions of the Kosovar Agency for Higher Education, jeopardising recognition of all university diplomas of Kosovo”, the Vetevendosje Movement is taking place.
This coalition has already fallen both morally and with numbers in the Assembly and is held in power with difficulty and injustice. Citizens of the Republic of Kosovo cannot remain hostage to such a completely failed and irresponsible coalition of power, which is blocking decision-making in the Assembly. The country must go to early elections. Any delay in this regard exacerbates the country's political, economic and social situation. Democracy is the solution. The government must resign”, the Vetevendosje Movement has stressed.
