Britain has signed a multi-billion-dollar agreement Friday for the sale of 48 fighter aircraft “Eurofaster Typhoon” Saudi Arabia, despite the criticism of the Yemen war.
The goal of the memorandum” for aircraft purchase comes after Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman stayed for a three-day visit to Great Britain.
The Crown Prince's version has opened a new chapter of a historic link for both countries,” said British Defence Secretary Gavin Williams, “DW” Transmission Periscope.
“We have taken a step forward in finalising the Typhoon aircraft deal to boost security in the Middle East and to push forward the British industry and the air sector,” he added.
Military equipment producers “BAE Systems” will conduct the potentially profitable agreement, which has been discussed for several years.
The Saudi-led coalition that has been fighting the Houthi rebels in Yemen since 2015 has criticised the deal to rise possible war crimes.
“If this shameful agreement is reached, it will be celebrated in Riyadh palaces and weapons companies that will benefit from it, but it means even greater destruction for Yemen's people,” said Andrew Smith's campaign against arms trade.
“Human Rights Watch” has documented numerous cases for the involvement of combat aircraft by bombing civilian targets and Yemen infrastructure./Periscopi/
