Serbia's political game upsets Kosovo sports game

After lunching in the large hall of the additional hotel building “President” at the Kovilovo resort, Kosovo handball players passed by dozens of Serbian policemen. Most of the players were in good moods, smiling, while all were dressed in tutas and jackets with the inscription “Kosovo”.

From the food hall, through the narrow road near which there were plenty of policemen, handball players addressed one of the halls in the hotel where they are staying for a meeting. It was at 2: 00 p.m., and it was time for the final consultations before a historic match, writes Koha Ditore today.

Handballers at the meeting received their final duties from coach staff and addressed the rooms to get ready for the match. When they entered the meeting, the match with Serbia was not being questioned. When they left the meeting, things had changed dramatically. The meeting is decided not to be played. And you didn't play.

There were dramatic developments at the time when Kosovo girls were in the hall with their trainers, making the latest plans for the match with Serbia, the first among the two representatives on Serbia's territory. In the hotel hall was Izet Djindjic, the secretary general of the FHK, and other members of the delegation.

Pressure on the delegation was increasing over time. The time was approaching to launch a historic match. And suddenly, Serbian portals published the announcement that Serbia's match Kosovo would not be played on the basis of a government decision of Serbia.
