20 residents in Trbuq, Gjirokastra, were evacuated at night, as a rock mass located on the hill over the village is in danger of collapse.
The situation has deteriorated after massive soil slides as a result of heavy rainfall that has damaged the rock base.
According to residents, the high landslide has also damaged the village's water supply.
The residents of the village say, "The “we have raised our voices, but we have not been able to crush it. The rock is 100 yards away. We also have the water source nearby and it's out of function”.
The Gjirokastra municipality has already launched tender procedures for the destruction of the rock, but there is still no deadline for launching the intervention. Land slides in Gjirokastra, both in the city and in surrounding areas, have been frequent since the beginning of the year.
