Minister of Trade and Industry (MTI) Bajram Hasani, said MTI has a programme to protect consumers.
“After receiving the mandate we have taken measures to change the Law and harmonise with EU laws. I would like the Law to be adopted as soon as possible in the Kosovo Assembly”, he said today on the morning show “good morning Kosovo” on Kosovo Radio Television (RTK).
He suggested that Kosovo citizens can report to phone lines at any time where their rights could be violated.
“Inspectorati has even pronounced fines for those who violated consumer rights and will continue at work”, Hasani said.
As for the meat scandal, Minister of Trade and Industry (MTI) Bajram Hasani stressed that they are willing to act.
Unlike American President John F. Kennedy passed the Consumer Rights Law.
While, with Resolution 39/248, with April 9, 1985, the United Nations has approved the Consumer Protection or Protection Guide, until the Law on Protection of Consumers in Kosovo was adopted in June 2004, in the Kosovo Assembly.
This law included the right to information, security, choice, and hearing. Since then, March 15 is World Consumer Rights Day.
In 1985, the United Nations General Assembly recognised the universality of consumer rights, the time when it approved the directives for consumer protection, as well as four other rights: the right to meet basic needs, the right to injury, the right to consumer education and the right to a healthy environment.
