Daniel Makymick, Canada's ambassador to Croatia and at the same time non-resident for Kosovo, urges Kosovo Parliament deputies to ratify the Demarcing Agreement with Montenegro.
According to him, ultimately the reason to make the demarcation of the border with Montenegro is to enable better co-operation with a friendly state and an economic development between the two sides.
While the EU's second condition for abolishing visas fighting organised crime and corruption is to build a better and prospering Kosovo. These comments, Maksymiuk, have made during an exclusive interview with the newspaper “Voice”, adding that Canada supports the desire of Kosovars to travel visa-free to the EU and at the same time the country's overall integration into the European family.
Maksymiu is Canada's ambassador to Croatia, a state that also has disagreements with Slovenia over maritime borders and over navigation and fishing rights, since the Gulf of Pirana is at the centre of disputes.
At the end of June of last year, the International Court of Arbitrazhi had made a decision that three-quarters of the Piranne Bay belong to Slovenia along the corridor providing open sea access, but Croatia does not accept the decision.
For these reasons Ambassador Maksymick says he prefers negotiated and bilateral solutions before the issue is sent to Arbitrazh. The “in the case of Kosovo and Montenegro already has a bilateral solution, reflecting the interests of both sides. It's based on expert work. I would like to see Kosovo's elected representatives in Parliament assume responsibility for ratifying this important agreement, and I am optimistic that this is what they will do”, he says, among other things.
During this interview with “Zerin” the Canadian diplomat also talks about the possibilities Kosovars have to go and work in his country.
