British Ambassador to Kosovo Ruairí O'Connell said it's never easy to talk about war crimes.
These are never forgotten. It's hard for someone like me who hasn't experienced the war to co-operate with what Kosovo citizens have experienced. We are all witnesses that the families of the slain and the missing want justice, want to know their fate”.
Victures of sexual violence require justice. No one can erase this chapter of Kosovo's history”, O'Connell has said.
He made these comments until the Fund for Humanitarian Law (FDH) published the report monitoring war crimes judgments and politically motivated criminal acts in Kosovo during 2017.
The British ambassador to Kosovo has also spoken of the Special Court.
This Court does not change history, but shows readiness for justice. Each victim deserves justice. Everyone loves rule of law, but rule of law is also done for either everyone or no”.
The Special Court is very important, but no one dares, neither in Kosovo nor in Serbia, to launch investigations into other cases because of this”.
He has added that there is not enough prosecutors dealing with these cases, so he has encouraged the Council of Prosecutors to increase their number.
According to him, there are also no proper training and experience for judges to handle these subjects.
