Krasniqi: Let's not forget that Kosovo is a war country and out of 50 years of Communism

The director of the Albanian People's University of Geneva, Albana Krasniqi, has given her opinion on the important event of Kosovo's declaration of independence, the integration of Albanians in Switzerland, their involvement in politics, as well as the future of Kosovo. I remember the joy and happiness of the Swiss Albanians who had waited for him [...]
I remember the joy and happiness of the Swiss Albanians, who had been waiting for that day since a very, very long time... I remember the cries of joy and happiness, and then the horns of cars, the flags of the flag on the streets of Geneva, but also slightly along the streets of all Switzerland that day”, Krasniqi says in an interview for Switzerland's Radio Francophone Radio Television.
According to her, Albanians are part of the Swiss landscape because they have been there since the 1960 ' s, as it is a population that has long been entering the landscape.
” I think that what has played a very positive role in this design of Switzerland's Albanians towards the future by feeling full-fledged helvetics, is this very independence of Kosovo, because with this independence, there was a life later”, Krasniqi points out.
One of the issues Krasniqi deals with is the inclusion of Switzerland's Albanians in politics.
There are more and more Albanians in municipal councils from all political sides. I was surprised to see at the recent polls in Geneva that even those parties that were thought not to attract this kind of public also had people who were very active with them. For federal voting, I think this takes a little bit more maturity, more time because it should be known to be the second generation and third generation involved with political parties rather than the first generation that has been more dependent on survival than on personal development”, Krasniqi says in this interview.
Meanwhile, asked about the problems currently accompanying Kosovo, Krasniqi says that” still has much to do”.
I think that many things have been done, not to be forgotten that there is a country that comes out of a bloody war, still suffering from trauma, but that wants to learn to manage, not just the country, but the economy. We often try to forget that it is a country that not only emerged from war but also from 50 years of Communism - from the socialist economy”, Krasniqi says, adding that he hoped in youth that for the most part has a Western education.
According to her, youth should appear and progress to different levels of government.
The question of a possible change of territories in Kosovo, Krasniqi responds negatively.
I don't think so because Kosovo's independence is a closed issue already. Kosovo is also familiar with representing its territory on the national flag and I think Switzerland is the country that would understand this better, because we can live and build very well together”, Krasniqi points out.
There is the will of political elites and people. I was there with the Federal Migration Commission to look closely at the minorities, the Serb, Roma, the other ones, and found out that there is really will, but, therefore, we shouldn't get it out of the context of the Balkans, as the Balkan context is really confusing, there are peoples or countries that are looking for their identity, so we need to include it in the regional context<1>, Krasniqi concludes.
