The Kosovo Women's Network supports former President Atifete Jahjaga, in connection with the indictment he received from the family of the former Shyhrete Berisha's husband, under which he must appear before the tribunal on February 14th.
S. The GK, believes that former President Jahjaga has been unjustly indicted after raising a voice for Shyhrete Berisha's rights and for the rights of all women to own the property.
“We believe that the court will consider this indictment unreasonable and that justice will prevail”, said the communiqué.
According to this Network, President Jahjaga has raised a voice for Shyhrete Berisha, a woman who almost lost her home when her husband's family tried to take over the property.
“Now the family of Shyhrete's husband indicts President Jahjaga after her speech appeared in defense of the right of Mrs. Berisha to keep her property”, it is said in response.
According to the Kosovo Women's Network, the indictment is simply an attempt to draw attention to this family's inhuman treatment of Shyhrete Berisha, as it has led him to spend years in judicial processes seeking to implement rights on property.
This is considered an attempt to silence them and those who speak against injustice and dare raise their voices against women's rights violations”, the communiqué says further.
Such unjustified claims by RGK serve to undermine the work and freedom of women's human rights advocates, such as President Jahjaga, in order to preserve the status quo and existing relations of power.
In response, President Jahjaga is said to have repeatedly raised a voice about women's rights and remained strong with the survivors of sexual violence during the war in Kosovo, struggling to recognise status, honor and treat them fairly.
