The two top EU officials, Christian Daniellson, director general of the European Commission for Enlargement, and Thomas Mayer Harting, director in Europe and Asia at Moghrin's office, have told KTV that Serbia cannot block Kosovo on its road to Europe. As for the European Commission's recent strategy for Western Balkan states on the road to membership in the European Union, the two officials have stressed that all countries view them as equal partners.
I have to see the strategy, but it seems to me that the formula is that there will be irrevocable, binding provisions that ensure that the states that EU members cannot block the others on this path”, they have said.
They have also talked about dialogue between the two states, saying there must be legally binding agreements and that must be implemented by both sides to advance on the European road.
“I think it is important to stress that a duty is expressed both for Serbia and Kosovo, for both, that they can move away, respectively. What will be the final result of this process -- this dialogue for normalisation -- is a process between the two sides. The European Union, High Representative Moghrin, facilitates this process, but the parties must reach agreements and the agreement means that both sides must agree to the outcome. Belgrade must agree, even Pristina must agree to that conclusion”, they have explained, refusing whether the US should be included in the dialogue.
As for the admission deadline for 2025, according to officials, this date is not a day of intent, but a day of reference.
