The agreement was signed by Interior Minister Fatmir Xhafaj and Emigration Commissioner Dimitri Avramopoulos.
“Albania will no longer be on the map of cannabis producers. Albania will benefit from EU projects during implementation of this” agreement, said Minister Fatmir Xhafaj.
For his part, Commissioner Avramopoulos said the country has made progress, but work remains to be done as far as irregular immigration management is concerned.
“Albania has made progress and I wish it would soon be part of the EU. Albania is part of the European family, historically and geographically”, he said.
