Students are risking their heavy bags

Although delayed, Isme Hajdari is being forced every day to take her niece to school. She can do all of this just to hold her niece's purse because it's heavy enough. And like this grandmother, many other parents and family members in Kosovo are obliged to [...]

And like this grandmother, many other parents and family members in Kosovo are charged with sending their children to school because of the weight of school bags.

And every day I've got a brother-in-law, four of us, all the bags in my hand, all the heavy cases, and we don't have all the roads out there, and the nation's not getting in there, and I'm risking I can't be able to catch them.

With the bag covered up, there's also trouble with student Alkena Beqaku, who is being taught at primary school “Rasim Kichina” in Drenas.

She admits that because of the heavy weight of the bag, her parents always accompany her to the school where the lessons are followed in the Darena municipality.

She wants her class as soon as equipped with booksheets.

I'd like to leave some books behind here, now get them a little easier“, she added.

As with Bequk, a second - grade student at this school, Bertin Halilay, says his only wish is to have his own light bag.

I was very much followed every day... I had a wish after the light bag“, he said.

While, lower elementary school principal” Rasim Kicina”, although under the weight of bags, says that in a total of 20 classrooms, only three are equipped with shelves, and this is made by parental initiative.

Because of overloaded bags, says Muleta, the behavior of children by their parents is causing them a lot of trouble at school.

According to him, no step has been taken in this direction along with requests addressed to the DKA.

The student's X-ray is loaded, or I can say overloaded that even banks that are dedicated to putting bags in there can't get into the bank closet... It's heavy especially for the smart cycle should be in my first grade. As a school we've been interested in, and in co-operation with parents we have three classrooms that we've created to leave texts they don't need for the evening, and this solution isn't really working out how it should be, because we still can't create that culture at that level that students use to the maximum their lockers in the classroom they have.“, Muleta said.

And at the Municipal Education Director in Drenas promises that by 2019, most schools will be equipped with book - leaving shelves.

Drenas municipality spokesman Bekim Dobra has told Kosova Prees that the municipality for this problem has offered no solution so far due to budgetary failures.

We haven't had budgetary opportunities so far to do a planning when it's known that the demands have been greater to regulate within the Sanitary standards of schools, regulation of activities, heating up. But for 2019 the municipal education directorate has made budgetary planning so that most schools will be adjusted to put children, students their books in those parts and no longer be obliged to carry books at home that may not be necessary”, he said.

Overloaded bags are not only a problem for Drenas' students, but almost all schools in Kosovo. Therefore, it is recommended that the solution be made as soon as possible.

Youth Qehaja from the Kosovo Institute of Redguard says the weight of bags is 18 percent heavier than allowed weight.

According to him, this problem would solve through teaching all day long, until you see the review of textbooks and the setting of shelves in schools.

Qehaja says that there is no parents ' awareness of more attention in changing books about learning times.

The “Hulum we made in lower elementary schools in our country has resulted in a particularly low cycle, one to five classes having a more pronounced weight surplus to body weight, which means 18 percent out of normal rates. This becomes first of all disturbing for children's health and then for their concentration in the learning process as a result of spontaneous pain taking them to the back, or caf... Another step is the review of textbooks after resulting in only 45 percent of textbooks in general covering a curriculum, so the rest of the non-needed is applicable”, Qehaja said.

The dangers of bringing child health on student bags have also been discussed by the director of Orthopedic Clinic at QKUK, Arber Tolaj.

He says that the current weight of students ' bags can result in spinal deformities, then problems with breathing, respiratory, and uroginal systems.

And since the age of 3 until the age of 10, exactly 9 years and 11 months of disorders or junillian deformities that are more likely to be met and are called idiopathic... and, in large measure, had to help this Scottish deviation is on the weight in this case carrying bags... It increases the deformity of the spinal cord, then if scolitic change or disorder or defority of this scale increases even indirectly in the respiratory system, then the respiratory system, but it could also affect the Ugjinal system, depending on whether it is the shape of a curve on the right side or on the left side “, he said.

Orthopedic Tolaj has recommended that parents be more careful and their children's bags be orthopedic.

Linked to this serious problem by political adviser to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Fatmir Bytyqi has told Kosovo Press that with the release of new textbooks expected to take place in the next school year, the bag problem will be solved.

According to him, this issue will find a solution through whole day's learning, which August has yet to plan for when it will begin to apply.

The text issue will be resolved on September 1st, 2019-2020, which means that new texts will be ready to talk about pre-school, pre-school, first-grade, sixth and tenth grade, and second grade, seven and eleven. It means grade one and two on September 1st, 2019-2020, they will have new texts that will weigh far less than the current texts they use... For the entire day's teaching ministry has already predicted that in a municipality through the DKA they will be able to fly. And we will, of course, identify the municipality which is more willing with school infrastructure to apply the entire daily lesson”, has declarated Bytyqi.

Until the issue of heavy bags is resolved, students must continue to carry their own bags and thus endanger their health or carry their bags to be assisted by their parents or relatives.
