The blood from this country is emerging to be quite expensive compared with other countries. In the last two years alone, blood has been imported worth over 100,000 euros.
The need to save lives is forcing Kosovars to seek help even from the state from which Kosovo broke up with war.
According to statistics provided by the newspaper Express from Customs, Kosovo also takes blood from Serbia, including human and animal blood.
In fact, over the years the amount of blood imported from Serbia is increasing.
In the last two years alone, from the state from which Kosovo was divided into war, blood has been introduced, worth more than 100,000 euros.

During this year, more than 600,000 euros have been paid for blood coming from Serbia.
And this type of blood, according to Dogan, is prepared for <x0 use therapies, profilec or diagnostic; antisera and other blood fractions; and modified immunological products”.
But, although it takes blood from other states, Kosovo is not very dependent on blood coming from foreign countries. All of this because voluntary blood donors cover up to 80 percent of their patients ' needs.
At the National Blood Transfusion Center, there have been nearly 30,000 blood donors since last year.
“Volunteers of blood cover up to 80 percent of the patients' needs, the rest are assisted through an oriented donation”,
According to this centre, blood for needy people provides donors from all over Kosovo territory. To a greater extent, they are young. While the men are the ones who cover most of the blood supply.
“Volunteers of blood are from all over Kosovo territory, Pristina, Peja, Prizreni Gjakova, Gjilani, Mitrovica, Vushtrria, Ferizaj. 67 %s of voluntary donors belong to a group between the ages of 30, mainly men up to 80, % women 20%x1>, respectively.
Otherwise, besides blood, the poorest country in the region buys from Serbia many other products, and many animals. Horses, donkeys, cattle and pigs top the import list from Serbia.
