The European Union's Commissioner for Enlargement, Johannes Hahn, at a media conference following meetings held with Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj and the chief cadre Veseli, has counted the millions the EU has invested for Kosovo since 2007 and so far. He has said 2.7m euros have been invested in Kosovo since then. While citing investments in free market areas as among the EU's recent achievements with the six Western Balkan countries that have increased European revenues to 46 billion euros.
I was in Belgrade in the morning, and I came here afternoon, and I have not yet completed my visit for today, but I can say that I have so far met with President Vuciq, Prime Minister Haradinaj and Prime Minister Veselinovic and I can say that all meetings have been open and constructive. I want to ensure that we are all working very hard that all six countries are able to become members of the European Union as stated in the Strategy for the Balkans published in February of this year, where it is said that all six countries have European perspectives but have key criteria for joining the EU, to resolve all the additional and open issues among neighbouring states, and that is why it is important to focus here on the dialogue with Serbia”, he has said.
Hahn is later beginning to count EU spending on Kosovo and the free market in the region.
So far we have spent 100m euros per year, since 2007, that is, the total of 2.7 billion euros given for the sake of social and economic development in Kosovo. We're committed, and one of the elements that's been moving forward here in the free trade area, and in the past ten years trade between the EU and six Western Balkan states that are still underestimated and for the first time in 2016 we've had for the first time a regional economy growth, and in the past ten years trade between the EU and six countries in the region has been recorded at 46 billion euros, and this is an indicator that is possible in the region and why we are working on the removal of the trade industry and everything that hinders the region's afarthof the region has said.
