Monday is expected to dawn on the Serbian List deputies in the Assembly. That attitude has been expressed since they entered the Assembly on Sunday and will stay until Monday morning, in an attempt to meet with EU commissioner Johannes Hahn, KTV reports.
In the office of the parliamentary group of this party, Serbian MPs have placed baner in English, where they wrote “100% taxes ) 0 % freedom” -- in opposition to the Kosovo Government's decision on the tax on Serbian products.
At a media conference, Serbian MP chief Sasa Milosavljevic claims the situation is serious, saying they lack milk, water and food.
“We express our great concern about establishing a 100-dollar tax on goods coming from Serbia. If this tax is not lifted in a short time, we will have big problems, not only Serbs in Kosovo, whose representatives we are but also all citizens of Kosovo, because there will be lack of milk, water and food. We don't want it to come to this, so peacefully and democraticly, at the meeting with Commissioner Johannes Hahn, we will announce with this big problem”, Milosavljevic said.
Meanwhile, the other MP, Igor Simi, has said that commissionor Hahn will report the humanitarian crisis facing the Kosovo Serb people unless the tax is lifted urgently.
Despite these Serbian List insistences, the Kosovo government has reconfirmed that it will not back down from the 100 per cent tax decision on Serbian products.
In a response to KTV, the prime minister's office stresses that the tax is not imposed against Kosovo Serbs.
“Prime Minister Haradinaj has given the reasons why the tax is imposed and when it can be lifted. On the other hand, it is inevitable that this tax does not affect and is not against any community living in Kosovo. Moreover, the customs exemption lists clearly show that communities are not affected in any form by taxes, and that is known to Serb political representatives in the country”.
On the other hand, Serbian diplomacy chief Ivica Dacic has said he expects from the West to persuade Pristina to return the tax decision to Serbia as soon as possible.
