US Ambassador to Pristina Philip Costett has said that 2019 will be the year when the Kosovo-Serbia final agreement is expected to occur.
I think 2019 should be the year of a comprehensive agreement. If the relationship between Serbia and Kosovo does not improve, it will get worse. There is no real possibility to keep the status quo”, the US ambassador for Kosovo said.
He emphasises that his country wants to see a “creative and inclusive agreements between the two countries”.
According to him, this agreement should also take into account the concerns and security of Serbs in Kosovo, which cannot be ignored.
Days earlier US President Donald Trump had sent two letters to Hashim Thaci and Aleksandar Vuciqi through which he had expressed interest in US involvement in the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.
And the man being talked about being a mediator is Deputy Secretary of State Matthew Palmer.
Palmer has a long experience in the Western Balkans.
