After confirming the acceptance of former Macedonian Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski's asylum request for Hungary, an official Skopje response has been made through, a statement by the Government, calling the action in question as an avoidance of justice.
“Nikola Gruevski has been sentenced to a firm form bias in a public and transparent process.
convict Nikola Gruevski was under police protection in accordance with the rights that followed him as former prime minister, and he reported no threat to his life in any situation.
No political persecution and threats to his life have ever been committed against Nikola Gruevski, and no government institution threatened his life. Therefore, we conclude that Gruevski's only goal is to avoid justice.
The government expects authorities in Budapest, unconditionally, to accept the request for extradition and in accordance with respect to international law, as EU and NATO members to allow Gruevski's return to Macedonia in order to serve his sentence and to respond to other acts he is accused of.
The Republic of Macedonia is a legal state in which laws govern. Anyone who has tried to violate the laws, and all who have been declared a decision of definite form, will be held accountable for their actions”, says the Government's response.
