Mirena: Thaci met Putin as president, Pacolli met Jelzin for Kremlin dedication

Journalist and analyst Ilir Mirena writes about the Thaci meeting, Putin, that this meeting took place between two presidents. He says that he has otherwise met with AKRRA leader Behgjet Pacolli with officials from the Kremlin, mainly in the quality of businessman.

Otherwise, Pacolli's construction business began in the early 1990s, when he completed the projects in the Far Russian town of Irkutsk. At that time, the mayor of this city was Pavel Borodin, who in 1993 became the leader of the Kremlin's wealth office under the then president, Boris Jelzin.

In a hurry, Pacolli Mabetex company was awarded contracts to repair the Kremlin, which is the presidential residence, and to work in the government's main buildings, then in Duma, the Federation Council and others.

Vladimir Ivanidze is a Russian journalist who has conducted investigations into the work of “Mabetex” in Russia.

Behet Pacolli was not such a successful businessman as he is now. He was a person who helped launder people's money, such as Pavel Borod and several ministerial minutes. I remember the cynicism of Borodin himself that promised to put me in jail for five years. But the fate was such that he ended up in prison”, says journalist Ivanidze.

Investigations have been conducted by Russian Attorney General Yuri Skuratov for Pacolli and “Mabetex”.

Boroddin had been arrested in New York in 2001 but was released after the Russian government paid 5 million Swiss francs. The case against him closed in 2002, after Russia refused to publish key documents. Since 2000, Mr. Borodin has served as leader of the Russian Union, Belarus.

Pacolli has been accused of paying off bank folders used by Boris Jelcin himself and his two daughters.

The case against Pacolli in Switzerland was closed in 2002.
