This is a decision made by the Council of Ministers, which aims to minimize pollution and the environment resulting from used cars and outside European stages.
The decision, published in the official notebook, will take effect on December 2nd of 2018, while for all cars that were imported in our country before the introduction of this law, but have not completed registration proceedings will be allowed until March 1st, 2019, to complete the procedures.
Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj named a very good news decision to ban imports of vehicles older than 10 years and create facilities for those who use zero pollution in the environment. The decision parliament made to prevent the import of cars older than 10 years is probably the best decision ever made for every child's lungs in the country. Tirana, as the biggest beneficiary of 1 million people and 200 thousand cars, ends the import of the world's”, Veliaj said.
Good news for the capital is also the government's priority to grant more alternative transport power, mainly buses and electric cars. The mayor said Tirana City Hall is very close to implementing this project, to start working on electric buses.
The Economy and Finance Commission is considering to provide more alternative transport power, making VAT customs zero for electrical buses, which happen as much as a mobile phone. So we actually enter a new era. We don't need to be the last, but as with the tree campaign and the initiative for more bicycle lanes, we're going first in the region, as well as electric buses, we have a fantastic chance to shine as a modern town of”, Veliaj said.
