“Citizens throw about 12,000 tons of extra food each year that represents one of the records in the region and Europe. This should change as a practice because we should not be the biggest food thrower. Still, most of the foods that remain as surplus in shops and other places that are part of their food chain or distribution are thrown into the” warehouse, Blage Josifovski has declared.
On the other hand, the Food and Veterinary Agency says quality food is consumed in Macedonia, AlsatM reports, Kosovo follows.
The “in the period from January 1st to September has been destroyed about 14,000 tonnes of food declared as unsafe”, said Zoran Atanasov of the Food and Veterinary Agency.
On October 16th, at 33 locations in the cities of Skopje, Manastir, Kumanovo, Prilep, Strumica, Radovis, Kocush and Vinnica will be organised action “Usq 10,000”.
