The Haradinaj government is similar to the <x0odse of men”, out of 21 ministries in Government, only one ministry is led by a woman.
It's that European Integration Ministry that's led by the Hoxha Gift.
When the Haradinja government was formed, part of that was also a woman's minister, Albena Resiti, who led the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning, but soon she left the ministry to be replaced by a male.
MP Lirimije Kataziz, the first deputy chairman of the Commission for Human Rights and Gender Equality in the Kosovo Assembly, has told news.net, that it is no wonder there are few women in the current government.
She says politics is being diverted outside institutions and moral codes.
It's no wonder that there are few women in government, because politics is being diverted outside institutions and legal and moral codes. For days and more, we're looking at how decision making is being carried on cafes and after private times something that suits men, not women. As for the constitution, with all the conventions within which guarantee equality nobody asks. The men of “forte” are breaking it when they want”, Cateazi said.
Even Adelina Hasani from KDI has said the gender equality issue is not being taken seriously at all by political parties and the Kosovo government itself.
This men's thinking has made the domination of men in decision-making positions not considered a primary problem we have. The political scene is seen as a matter of men, and women's participation is done only at the invitation of men and leave as well with their decision”, Hasani has said.
According to her, the domination of almost all ministries by men shows how institutionalisation of the patriarchal system has become.
It therefore becomes clear that, along with many initiatives undertaken by civil society to achieve gender equality, they are not reflected in reality. Therefore, patriarchal tradition is continuing as promises have been made during political campaigns to achieve gender equality. The legality of this authority is questioned, given that it is almost entirely run by men, and bypassing half of the population (women)”, Hasani has declared.
She has also said that gender nonsense continue to be violated not only in the Government of Kosovo, where there is currently only one woman minister, but the same is happening at the local level, where in addition to promises given to respect gender futility it is not being respected.
“As at the local and central level decision-making positions are dominated by men. Of course, participating in decision-making positions would contribute to achieving gender equality. But representing women equally with men will not necessarily contribute to eliminating gender discrimination on social and economic issues facing women”, Hasani has said.
While AKR Secretary Vesel Makolli has said that their party currently does not have a woman who can be elected to the top of any minister.
“Of course we were, not to say, but to another party has a female minister, we have respected the quota at first. but it goes as it went down at certain moments we have to see who does things, on the platform it's discrimination if because of the gender we don't name the person with the adequate”, Makoli said.
Speaking of Resiti's departure, Makolia has said they had in mind that a minister would be appointed instead, but that they had no chance of doing so.
Even in this case when we have appointed it to the new minister who replaced it, we have considered those things. But we haven't had a chance, since only a year has passed, we've had trouble naming someone inexperienced. The people do not ask whether she was a female or a male, but they consider the result. We didn't have any women right now, we've got women full of us, but now it's the specificity of the job, it's not that we didn't mean it, but it was this person that we needed. His ability, then his experience”, Makolli said.
