Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Anton Berisha has spoken in an interview with journalist Jehona Hulaj about the issue of visa liberalisation, Kosovo's membership in Interpol and other foreign policy issues.
Berisha has said that his position and the subject belonging to the AAK on the visa issue is the same as everyone.
He thinks the European Union should give positive answers to Kosovo and its citizens for free movement. Our and the party's “position is like all over Kosovo, following meeting the criteria set by the EU, we expect a positive response from European institutions. Since it has moved to the European Parliament and now to the next phase of the Council, we hope that this process will close”, Berisha has said of Telegrafi.
Speaking about positions that may have some European states on visa terms, and their scepticism on this process, Deputy Foreign Minister Anton Berisha said this is unnecessary scepticism.
“Scepticism unnecessary because major movements have been carried out in previous years, I don't think it's anything very disturbing”, Berisha said.
He added that the European Union should not be blamed if visa liberalisation does not occur.
“The EU is a home and it is in its right to allow others to come as guests or not, and we cannot blame someone for not accepting us as guests.
We are confident that the process will go well... we don't have any alternative but the EU, and any other alternative is suicide for us”, Berisha said.
Berisha has also talked about the process of recognition for Kosovo citizenship, where he stressed that this process has been put aside because of the visa liberalisation issue, Interpol membership and the final phase of dialogue with Serbia.
As for Kosovo's membership in Interpol, Berisha has stressed that this organisation's session will be held on November 20th this year, and that it is becoming the right preparations for Kosovo to become a member of this organisation.
