As for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue process, the US administration has no red lines. But, however, it warns that they will not blindly accept any agreement that could be reached between the two sides, and that Kosovo, even after the agreement, should remain multiethnic.
That's what Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Mattee Palmer, who has been staying in Pristina these days, said in exclusive interview for “
Palmer has not ruled out the exchange of territories or the correction of borders as a possible option for agreement. But it has said the agreement will contain much more than that. It will be multidimensional, and within itself there will be other components, from political and security to economic, cultural and property issues.
Palmer in the interview ensures that the US remains committed to Kosovo's citizenship, and that status is not a topic of discussion with Serbia, while stressing that reaching agreement between the two presidents will not suffice for it to be applicable, and that at least the parliaments of both countries will have to be included.
The fact that the two presidents reach agreement does not mean that agreement will occur”, Palmer said.
