Legal medical expert Edsim Gerjaliu, as well as Police Sergeant Xhavit Manly, were heard today in the quality of witnesses in the case of organ transplants allegedly conducted at the “Medicus” clinic.
During this session, it has been planned to hear another witness, Nedmi Qyqalla, but for the same, it was decided that his testimony given on December 20, 2011, will be considered as read.
For forensics, Arsim Gerjaliu, who was invited to testify in the quality of the witness rather than in the quality of the forensics expert, the prosecutor of the case Valeria Bolic wanted to know only if he stood by his statement, issued on October 25th 2011. Gerjaliu said he stood behind that statement.
And Sokol Hajdin's defender, lawyer Rame Gashi from the witness asked to know approximately the number of cases in which he had participated in the quality of forensics expert.
In this case, Arsim Gerjaliu said he is the leader of the Legal Medicine Institute for more than ten years and has participated in thousands of legal expertise having had to do with minor bodily injuries.
“For bodily injuries we have been called very often and with thousands of materials provided based on the” medical report, Gerjaliu said.
Afterwards, lawyer Gashi asked him to know from the witness whether he, based on his knowledge, could clarify whether an an anesthesiologist during surgery makes the opening of the wound.
But with the prosecutor's response as well as the approval of this request by the court, this question was not allowed with the argument that the witness was invited to testify in the quality of the witness rather than in the quality of the expert.
Then witnessed witness Xavit Manll, who said that because of the long time that had passed, there is a possibility that many things will not be remembered, so he declared that he is standing next to his earlier statement.
Xavit Manlli, who said he worked at that time in the Department Against Trafficking in Human Being in the Victims Unit, said he reported his work to Sergeant Samire Xhemajli.
He therefore stated that on November 4th 2008, while he was with Sergeant Samire Xhemajli, they had received some information that a person who was operated plans to move abroad and that they should go to the airport.
Dudel later indicated that he and his colleague had gone to the airport and that there they had seen two people, one about 40-50 years old and the other about 20.
For the older man, he said he was headed for the agency and carried out procedures about the ticket and then the person about 20 years old had entered the checkpoint, while for the older person, he said he was back.
The old <x0.> Person went to the agency and arranged the return ticket issue, didn't take much time and the new person entered the airport at the checkpoint while this older man went back and colleagues continued inside and dealt with this new person. I've stayed out to see where this old man is going, said the witness.
The witness was then presented with pictures from the prosecutor, and he was asked if he could identify the people he saw in those pictures.
Regarding the photos the witness said he can't remember what he did but managed to identify two people.
He was able to identify Moshe Harel, who he said was the person he had been watching and who had arranged the ticket procedures for that person about 20 years old, and then managed to identify the person named Michael Shafran, who he later realized was the son of the person who had been operated.
Regarding these two people, he said he remembered that later they left the airport together with a “-type car. Golf 3” and that there had been another person who had driven but had failed to see who had been.
I've seen these two come out and they've gotten into a car as I recall it was “Golf 3”, color closed from black to floor another person was in the car but who was he didn't know”, the witness stated.
Regarding the person who was operated, the witness said he did not remember his name but said he thinks it was Turkish nationalism.
Days earlier, Moshe Harel, Israeli national, was arrested in Cyprus under suspicion of being involved in organ trafficking.
Lutfi Dervisi, owner of the clinic “Medicus”, in which prosecution claims that kidney transplantation took place, is charged with trafficking with human beings and organised crime, while Sokol Hajdini is suspected of serious bodily injury.
Part of that judgment was Arba Dervishi, the son of Lutfi Dervis, but the procedure against him is isolated because he is on the run.
Urologist Lutfi Dervisi had been sentenced by the Constitutional Court in Pristina to eight years in prison in 2013, while Sokol Hajdini to 3 years.
The Court of Appeals had later confirmed Dervis's sentence, while Heidi had added her years to her prison sentence from three years to 5. /Call. com/
