The commission for compensation of crime victims founded by the Ministry of Justice has made the decision under which it has approved the requests for compensation of the victims of crime put forward by the Office for Protection and Assistance of Victims, which operates under the State Chief Prosecutor's Office.
The commission has approved the request for compensation of the crime victim initiated by the Pristina region's Office of Protectors of Victims. The demand has been filed for serious mental health disorders, medical and hospitalisation spending, as a consequence of criminal acts “trafficking with people”, from Article 171 paragraph 2 concerning paragraph 33 of the Kosovo Criminal Code, and criminal acts “sexual services” of the trafficking victim from Article 231 paragraph 2 concerning paragraph 1 of the Kosovo Criminal Code, for which they have been convicted and convicted of having committed criminal acts above.
The commission for compensation of the victims of the crime has reviewed the request and found that legal conditions for its submission have been met, such as the type of criminal act committed to the victim, failure to implement the legal property requirement by convicts in criminal procedure, and other formal and pre-prisonable conditions with provisions of Article 7 and 8 of the Law for compensation to victims of crime, as well as provisions of Article 4 paragraphs 2 and 15 of the Administrative Guide, including for the means of compensation, including accounting for compensation for multiple injuries.
It is noteworthy that during 2017 the first victim of crime from the Mitrovica region, initiated by the Bureau for Protection and Relief of Victims. This case has started the first practice implementation of the Law for the compensation of crime victims.
