Chancellor Merkel's party MP, Stephan Albanian, has made for the media “Deutsche Welle” a mirror of the way Albania's political reality in the German Bundestag looks.
Here, according to him, it is especially part of the political will that ensures that corruption and organized crime are fought by legal means.
The MP provides an example of former Interior Minister Saimir Tahiri, to say that no immunity can be obtained before a legal procedure aimed at clarifying a case.
This is very important to ensure Albania's credibility internationally”, says the chairman of the group for South Eastern Europe in the German Bundestag.”.
In the interview, Alban also refers to Albania's expectations for the opening of membership negotiations this year. “We are at the beginning of the year, we have progress reports that will be published in February, a process that lasts by mid-year. It's not a bit, but it's not a long time.
As physicists and politicians, for me the facts are worth. I also told the Albanian ambassador in the conversation. The facts, not just on paper, but on concrete application. I see some things on paper, but in practice not much. I have assured him that I will formulate my recommendation for negotiations on the basis of facts by mid-year. If the facts are such, which at this point no progress has been made, then the facts are so unpleasant that I cannot imagine that the readiness will be too large”, Stephan Albanian said.
The German MP further emphasises that, if a perspective is required in the EU, the government and opposition should behave as they are. If this isn't secure, then there's no criteria, so I hope both sides understand that. The sides must learn their lessons and clearly change their behaviour towards each other, and act on the reasons”, the chairman of the parliamentary group for Southeast Europe concludes his message to the German Parliament.
