Shkumbin Mehmeti, a protected Special Prosecutor's Witness who gave an exclusive interview with the Clan Kosovo a few days ago, has sent through his lawyer, a letter to the media, writing that he is being held unjustly, as his sentence has been dealt with by the Supreme Court's decision, which “is directly influenced by Ramush Haradinaj's” gangs.

“I am blackmailed by local courts, since the law is applied in my case and does not allow the extraordinary easing of punishment or retrial, which have been requested and supported by the EULEX Special Prosecutor, for fear I can witness the lighting of other political murders<1>, writes Mehmeti.

“I say with criminal and moral responsibility that the Supreme Court's decisions are directly influenced by Ramush Haradinaj's gangs, it is a fact that two days after being elected Prime Minister Haradinaj, the Supreme Court of Kosovo with illegal ruling has freed him from the Faik Shaqiri prison, which has an indictment set up for the police killing, for which I have been sentenced, and is one of the assassins of Sebahate Tolaj and Tahiraj<1>.

According to Mehmet <x0) the rulings of the Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court have been taken under the influence of policy and perpetrators of political murders, for fear that if I am released I will co-operate with the prosecutor for lighting up other political murders, such as Tahir Zemaj, Smajl Hajdajright and Sebahate Tolaj”.

He adds that he is willing to cooperate with the Prosecutor.

For the sake of the families of the victims, who are victims of this criminal group, and because of the Kosovo processes that have been held hostage by these murders, I will always be willing to co-operate with the prosecution, but in form and format we will consult my lawyer, and during the week it will come up with another” answer.

I, Shkumbin Mehmeti, announce to the public that in 2012, through the Kosovo police I have sent material, statements and videos, State Chief Prosecutor Ismet Kabashi, to investigate post-war killings, with particular emphasis on the Dukagjin Plain. But it is through police Ismet Kabashi that he has returned to me that he cannot investigate these cases.

In the meantime, in the case in which I am convicted, I have begun co-operating with the EULEX prosecutor, and for other cases, I have had contact with the Kosovo police, that is, with the discovery of post-war killings of political killings, and it is normal that I have sought retrial.

By 27.01.2017, during my meeting with the Kosovo Special Staff Prosecutor, Haki Gecane has withdrawn my request for revision, but I have asked that benefits and the law be in my favour, that is, to have benefits with what the law allows, which means to apply the most favourable law for me. The DA told me that I would consult the law and inform you, but from that day until today, I have not received an answer from the prosecutor.

I've had other contacts with prosecutors and policemen, and not always have I asked for retrial, not in any case, but the state prosecution has not been ready to reach agreement with me.

As for the external easing of the sentence, the EULEX prosecution, after having made the re-investigation of the case for which I was convicted, has come to the conclusion that I have not committed murder and has sought to ease this extraordinary reduction in punishment and drop me on charges of murder, but the Supreme Court of Kosovo has rejected the prosecutor's request for extraordinary easing of the sentence. EULEX prosecutor in 2014 also gave a positive opinion on my lawyer's request for review of the criminal procedure, since new evidence has been found, but the Constitutional Court led by Hamdi Ibrahimi has rejected the lawyer's request and the prosecutor's consent to review the procedure.
