Attempts to try Israeli suspected of kidney transplant in Kosovo

It is not the first time Israeli Moshe Harel has been arrested in connection with allegations of kidney transplantation, but he has not so far faced Kosovo trial. Moshe Harel one of the main suspects in the case of the clinic “Medicus” was arrested days ago by Cypriot state authorities on the basis of an international arrest warrant.

Harel has been on the run since 2010, in the indictment set up in connection with illegal kidney transplants allegedly made at the “Medicus” Clinic.

Israeli Harel is supposed to have brokered and organized kidney transplants.

This is not the first time Harel has been arrested, since even in 2012, then prosecutor Jonathan Ratel had confirmed his arrest following the request for international judicial assistance that the Kosovo prosecutor had made to Israeli authorities.

Ratel had even said he had started contact with Israeli state authorities for his extradition to Kosovo.

The prosecution has filed a separate indictment against Moshe Harel, as well as other indictees Yousuf Sonmez, who is still on the run.

Since the same have been on the run, they had to isolate themselves so that they could proceed with the other indictees.

According to former prosecutor of the Jonathan Ratel case, Harel has been the principal mediator in the security, trade and transplant of human organs,

According to the prosecutor, he arranged meetings with patients and organ donor victims.

“Istanbul was the location of patients who were victims and receptive organ patients. Patients often flew together and immediately sent to the Medicus Clinic to undergo surgery, along with Moshe Harel”, prosecutor Jonathan Ratel had said in an interview for the Life Journal in Kosovo.

During this interview for the Life Journal in Kosovo, prosecutor Ratel had also spoken about the other accused surgeon Yousuf Sonmez, who had said was the main person in all organ transplants that had occurred at that clinic.

“He is the notorious organ trafficker of origin from Turkey, which we long seek. He is on Interpol's redlist and charged in Turkey with violations at the Mediccus Clinic and for his failure to appear in court”, prosecutor Ratel had said.

The prosecutor then said that Dr. Yousuf Sonmez could actually be in South Africa.

And concerning the arrest, and then the extradition of these two indictees to Kosovo state authorities, prosecutor Ratel had declared neither Moshe Harel nor Yousuf Sonmezi have been able to extradite to Kosovo because Israel and Turkey forbid it.

Following the arrest of Moshe Harel, the newspaper Life in Kosovo has contacted the Ministry of Justice, as well as the EULEX mission in Kosovo, to ask whether these two institutions had made or planned to apply for this person's extradition to Kosovo.

The EULEX is being taken in this case, so please contact the Office for Their Communication on Your Questions”, says email that the newspaper Life in Kosovo has accepted from the Justice Ministry Public Communication Office.

The Office for Communication with EULEX Publicity has told the newspaper Life in Kosovo that the extradition procedure is under way, while suggesting that questions on the issue address the Ministry of Justice and Foundation Court in Pristina, which according to EULEX are responsible for extradition procedures.

The newspaper Life in Kosovo has not received answers from the Constitutional Court in Pristina, while today Justice Minister Abelard Tahiri wrote on Facebook that Kosovo has requested Harel's extradition from Cyprus.

Tahiri had reacted even after Moshe Harel's arrest in Cyprus, vowing to do everything for his extradition.

I will do whatever it is possible that this person, who in addition to criminal acts, has done a huge damage to Kosovo's image in the international arena, will be brought before justice bodies to answer for the works done”, Tahiri wrote.

At the Foundation Court in Pristina, doctors Lutfi Dervishi and Sokol Hajdini are being tried, who, according to the prosecution, collaborated with Harel and Somnese.

Lutfi Dervisi, owner of the Clinic “Medicus” in which the prosecution claims kidney transplant was performed, accused of trafficking in human beings and organised crime, while Sokol Hajdini was charged with serious bodily injury.

Part of that judgment was Arba Dervishi, the son of Lutfi Dervis, but the procedure against him is isolated because he is on the run.

Urologist Lutfi Dervisi had been sentenced by the Constitutional Court in Pristina to eight years in prison in 2013, while Sokol Hajdini to 3 years.

The Court of Appeals had later confirmed Dervis's sentence, while Heidi had added her years to her prison sentence from three years to 5. /Cashho. com/
