The wire fence along the Hungarian border was built by authorities following numerous remarks by the European Union for illegally entering migrants. After the completion of this barrier, it is reported that the number of illegal entrances to this country has been markedly reduced. While now thanks to these barriers, many immigrants have almost no illegal access.

Two days ago it was reported that large numbers of young people are again leaving Kosovo, just like 2014. Again the same route is being exploited, via Serbia and Hungary, while the main goal remains to the European Union states. But Kosovars must know that the barriers built during 2015 allow them to enter Hungary, as in 2014 when no such barriers existed. Now, we're talking about another situation.

Border between Hungary and Serbia

The border between these two countries is 5,500 miles [175 km] long. In June 2015, the Hungarian government approved the construction of this fourm-high barrier to prevent the illegal entry of numerous immigrants. 30 billion dollars were spent on the construction of a barrier that was made of a razor wire. Construction of two asylum - seekers camps was also provided under this investment. However, immigrants refused to register as refugees in Hungary, since their main destination was Germany and other developed countries.

During the past year, it was reported on the plight of migrants in Serbia who had been trapped because of the inability to cross into Hungary. While, the Hungarian government demanded that the European Union repay half the costs of this border barrier, amounting to 400m euros.

Including the border with other countries besides Serbia, the Hungarian border reaches the length of 523km. Such a barrier cannot afford illegal passage./Periscopi
