Republika President Ilir Meta, Albania's most accused politician for corruption and unjust enrichment, fears the action of the amended anti-mafia law, the National Bureau of Investigation, Special Prosecutorship and Special Courts, institutions that will be established at the beginning of the new legislature.
The new president, de facto also chairman of the Socialist Movement for Integration, which called for the arming of people in the campaign, has started to sell real estate, which is not justified with the legitimate income declared.
During 2016, Ilir Meta and his wife, Monica Kryier, elected at the head of the LSI, have sold three apartments for 487 thousand euros - a large one compared to the couple's declared income in question. Meta and Grandi have sold an apartment of 200 square metres, worth 345 thousand euros.
Reference to documents, they say they own only 50% of this apartment. But the Meta Mayor couple have sold another apartment of 166.2 square metres, worth 85 thousand euros, as they have sold another residential apartment of 1,000 square metres, worth 57 thousand euros. In a year, Meta and Grand have turned into more than half a billion dollars in real estate.
Unlike money, which may hide or move abroad, declared residential apartments are more at risk of being seized one day if they are not justified with legitimate incomes. Despite doubts, indifference, and strong accusations, Ilir Meta and Monica Grandie have very rarely spoken of their real wealth and the source of its creation.
Meta has claimed to own a normal villa in Lalz Bay, which actually accounts for over 1m euros, with 2,000 m2 feet of olives, giant palm trees and 11 toilets. Only the furniture cost him over 400,000 euros. Meta and Monica's salary is not enough just to maintain it, without counting the 5-story palace they live in downtown Tirana in the area of the bloc”./Pamlet/
