The Socialist Party held a festive rally in “Square Skenderbej” this afternoon as the vote count drew to a close and the result is in their favour with 74 MPs.
Edi Rama gave a long speech, saying Albania has spoken bluntly and “Albanians have decided with a clear red and black vote”.
He said the people chose the Socialist Party to govern the country alone. Rama said the victory is Albania's.
“They have chosen the future and have all told us that the Albania we want is on the left and on the right, the mission of the elected is working for Albania, and not the work of the clashes and interests of the authorities. The people chose the SP to lead the country as the only ruling power and humbly accept this choice, and we will rule with the strength of example for all, not by example of strength for others. The challenges today are Albanian, not socialist and democratic, old and new, of the same country, of all. I tell everyone that winning is Albania's and credit is for the ordinary people of this country, the huge burden of responsibility for their chosen ones. Albanians did not choose for the Albania we have, but for what we want. They want to prove how good we can be if we have the only”, Rama said, writes Top Channel.
Edi Rama said that from today's priority will be reflecting on mistakes made so far.
Our first priority should be to reflect on how much we should correct ourselves in the first place. Don't let our competitors see them as enemies and treat them as such. We didn't win a championship, but we got a very difficult assignment. Four years should not be another game of who is to blame, but an Albanian effort to make Albania better. The campaign has ended, Albanians have looked, heard, and made the choice. Now is the time to put ourselves in their service, ahead of our interests and Albanians indiscriminately, ahead of political differences, is the time to put a red flag in front of political party flags. It is time to find the strength to work together”, Rama said.
