Kosovo police in co-operation with the US DEA have arrested ten people, four of them in Kosovo and six in New York, as well as seized weapons and other material evidence.
A person from New York Staten Island has been charged with selling anti-tank missiles and 15 AK-47 automatic rifles to Kosovo, which he believes would go to Mexican gangs on the US border, the paper writes.
Albert Veliu is among the eight accused of money laundering, international arms trafficking and extortion.
He's referred to automatic rifles as ésneakers, while launcher Zola M80 Anti-Tank named him "Shaq-Sized sneacker," referring to the renowned basketball player Shaquille O'Neal, authorities have said.
His associates have been arrested under suspicion that they have been linked to a rinse scheme.
Albert Veliu was caught trying to sell his guns to a covered agent.
According to the newspaper, the weapons were arranged to be sold for a Mexican drug cartel that was at war with his rivals near the US border.
