The British government in a statement has said it will finance abortions in England for women coming from Northern Ireland, where this medical practice is illegal, following numerous threats and parliamentary revolt.
Just a few weeks after the Supreme Court upheld the state's right to accuse Northern Irish women of this procedure, this indicates the weakness of Prime Minister Theresa May's government.
Finance Minister Philip Hammond said the government “aims to finance abortions in England for women coming from Northern Ireland”.
Unlike the United Kingdom, abortion is illegal in Northern Ireland, except when Mother's life or mental health is threatened, reports AFP, Periscope broadcast.
