Chan Han Choi, 59, is accused of mediating illegal exports from the country and discussing supply of weapons of mass destruction, the BBC writes.
Police claim he has broken UN and Australia sanctions.
The case against Chan, who has lived in Australia for over 30 years, is the first of its kind in the country.
This is the first time someone has been indicted under the 1995 Mass Destruction Law (Prevention of Proliferation).
Police say there was evidence Chan had been in contact with high-ranking “in North Korea”, the Kosovo Clan broadcasts.
