In 2002, the Congolese rebels crossed the Oubani River, which forms a natural border between the Central African Republic (CAR) and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The Movement for Release of Congo (MLC) was set to help CAR President Ange-Felix Patasse prevent a coup attempt by General Boziz.

The first conflict affected Arlette and Fane in 2002 when the Congolese rebels crashed through the K12, a community on the outskirts of the capital of Bangui of the Central Republic of Africa, reports “Al Jazeera”, the Periscopi broadcast.

Arlette was shot in the knee, carrying a wound that will not heal for a decade.

Fane was frustrated when the rebels repeatedly raped her mother, a constant reminder of a brutal crime.

Before the Community PK12 to recover from atrocities caused, a new conflict reached Bangui in 2013.

The fight between the rebels, Secle Muslims and the Christian militants “Anti-balaka” forced both Arlette (Christian), and Fane (Muslim), to flee their homes.

It's their story that's elaborated through some photos.

PK12, Bangui, 2008. Arlette [C], 10, shows a wound to her knee that has not yet healed. When it happened, it was dark, I heard gunshots and screams, where a bullet hit me in my leg”, she said. Finally, in 2012, Arlette was sent to Germany to operate.

Within the Central African Republic, MLC caused bomb blasts, rapes, murders and local population plunder. The village of Liton lies at Kilomera Point 22 (PK22) and was the scene of an untold cruelty, including systematic rape. Only six older men remained in the village after days of rebels ' destruction.

In June 2016, the head of MLCé Jean-Pierre Bemba was sentenced to 18 years in prison by the international criminal court for the rape and plunder committed by his troops in the Central African Republic. Until then, violence had returned to the country. In the early hours of March 24, 2013, Muslim rebels Seleka marched to Bangui, ousting President Francois Bozize. Not long after, Christian militants called Anti-balaka (<x0-machete” began to organise revenge attacks and how Muslim civilians targeted./Periscopi/

Within CAR, the MLC went on a rampage, raping, killing and drinking the local population. Liton Village lies at Point Kilometre 22 (PK22) and was the space impossible accessing systemetic rap. Amzine [C] was murdered by three men when the rebel came.

This photo of Fane was taken at PK12 in 2010. Four years later, she said:

In 2014, Amzine and Fane slept to Chad as Muslims were persecuted by anti-balaka rebels.
