A group of republican lawmakers in the House of Representatives have presented the American Congress with a resolution expressing dissatisfaction with the UN General Assembly resolution on US recognition of Jerusalem to the capital of Israel, which was supported by Albania.
The resolution underlines that the House of Representatives strongly supports President Donald Trump's decision and urges him to instruct the Secretary of State to submit to Congress a report on the status of assistance that the US offers to countries that voted in favour of the UN General Assembly resolution.
On December 6th, US President Donald Trump signed the decision recognising Jerusalem's capital of Israel and instructed the State Department to prepare the transfer of the Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
This decision was followed by numerous reactions against the international community, while on December 21st, the United Nations Assembly approved 128 votes for, 9 against and 35 abstentions a resolution condemning US recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
American lawmakers underline the draft resolution that the US is a sovereign state and has the right to decide for itself where its embassies will be placed.
