President Thaci has said that this agreement eventually solves a key problem for Kosovo.
This power plant, according to President Thaci, not only stabilises the energy sector but also gives new energy to Kosovo's economic development.
This contract represents the biggest private investment in Kosovo's history and contributes to economic growth. Furthermore, this agreement is also the continuation of our strategic partnership with the United States of America”, said President Thaci.
He has said there can be no more significant indication of Kosovo's positioning as an investment destination -- that today's deal, which includes about 1.3 billion euros in investments.
Foreign direct investment is marking new successes, which translate into positive impacts and stimulate the creation of new jobs. Significantly, about 10,000 new jobs will be created during the implementation phase alone. These successes are the result of the smooth and insistent work of Kosovo institutions to improve the investment climate. This progress, Kosovo, is confirmed by various international metres of global economies”, he has said.
President Thaci has said that in addition to solving a significant problem for our country, with this investment we are also sending clear signals to the world that we are a country with potential and a state offering security for investment.
Kosovo's “orientation into Euro-Atlantic integration is long and demanding, but it is a guarantee that our state is on track for sustainable development”, he has said.
Once the operation is under way, President Thaci has said the thermo-power plant “New Kosovo” is expected to have a life expectancy of 40 years.
This long-term planning will enable our society to design a promising future for generations to come. And this period will not only contribute to supply sustainability, but will also guarantee independence from regional energy prices, from which Kosovo will not depend in the future”, he has said.
Over these decades, the country's first one has said that institutions will have sufficient time to develop new production capacities based on renewable energy sources.
He has said that this historic agreement, which is being made on the eve of the 10th anniversary of independence, takes Kosovo safely towards energy independence.
