American President Donald Trump has said that Uzbek immigrant accused of killing eight people on Halloween night must be sentenced to death.
The suspect, Sayfullo Saipov, told investigators he was inspired by the viewing of Islamic State videos and began preparing for the attack a year ago, broadcasts of arenas.
Saipov, 29, also said that “a felt good about what he had done” and asked permission to display the flag of the Islamic militant group in his hospital room.
The NYC terrorist was happy when he asked to hang the I flag SIS in his hospital room. He killed 8 people, seriously injured 12. Must get the death penalty!”, type Trump on Twitter.
Saipov faces two counts, one of which carries the death penalty if the government chooses to seek him, prosecutor Joon Kim said.
