Comments come after Mohammed Bin Salman said Iran's supreme leader is “the new Middle Easternery”.
While alluding to Iran's increased regional power, Mohammed Bin Salman said it is important to avoid “the repetition of what happened in Europe and the Middle East”.
Saudi Arabia and Iran are rivals and have accused each other of promoting instability throughout the region.
Speaking to the New York Times newspaper, Mohammed Bin Salman said Iran should not be allowed to extend its influence.
“We don't want the new Hitler in Iran to repeat what happened in Europe and the Middle East”, he said, referring to Ajothallah Ali Khameneit.
In response, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi said that “as anyone in the world and on the international stage would not respect Saudi prince because of the immatureness and poor behaviour”.
