The Vatican's permanent ritual, Pope Francisescu, sought mercy for politicians who promoted fear and racism against immigrants.

He urged them to be careful and practice the virtue of discretion, to help immigrants integrate into society.

The pope, he cut off comment on the protection of immigrants from the 2018 message that will address the heads of state, governments and international institutions on January 1st of the new year. The message comes at a time when migration has become an important political issue for America, Italy, Australia, and Germany.

In Germany, Chancellor Merkel has been criticised for open door policy for immigrants, causing voter losses against anti-immigration parties. While in Italy, the anti-imgration party North League is expected to gain ground in the upcoming elections. On the other hand, President Trump has promised to build the wall at the US-Serbian border, with the aim of keeping immigrants away, this move was criticised by the Pope himself.

Pope Francis, points out that wealthy states should show a spirit of compassion, towards those forced out of war, hunger, discrimination, persecution, poverty and environmental destruction.

By practicing the virtue of discretion, government leaders must take measures in hospitality, promotion, defence, integration in line with common values to allow them to become part of society.
