Haradinaj's Thaci with different visions about demarcation

Kosovo President Hashim Thaci believes that in August 2015, he has signed a fair agreement with Montenegro for border demarcation. Therefore, he expects the Parliament and the Government of Kosovo without delay to approve, respectively ratify this agreement, to open the doors to Kosovo in the European area of movement [...]
But what agreement Thaci and former Prime Minister Isa Mustafa, the current prime minister, Ramush Haradinaj, believe will be taught only after the new state commission for border demarcation and maintenance submits the report to the Government of Kosovo on allegations of “the” demarcation with Montenegro.
President Hashim Thaci says he stands firmly behind the signing (of the agreement), believing he has been right.
“has different opinions, but the facts do not change”, Thaci stressed.
“We have estimates of the Kosovo State Commission, international experts, NATO, US assessments, the European Union, and we do not know who else to consult”, Thaci said, inviting the Government and the Assembly to proceed further with ratification without delay.
“Whoever requires academic expertise, exceeding NATO, Washington and Brussels expertise, I believe these are harmful. If we want visa liberalisation, the agreement for demarcation should be ratified with Montenegro signed in August 2015”, Thaci stressed.
Kosovo President Ramush Haradinaj himself has commented on the demarcation. He said he is aware of what the position of President Thaci is on border demarcation with Montenegro. But, he has underlined, the results of the new Commission should be expected.
Haradinaj said there is currently no chance of two-thirds of the deputies' vote on ratification of the 2015 demarcation agreement.
According to him, the new Commission's findings will show whether the case should be prosecuted at the International Court of Arbitrazhi or not.
Kosovo has a state commission and that commission, under the law, is working and when it comes with results we will act. So when we get results we'll talk and we're aware of the position of President”, Haradinaj stressed.
Officials in the Government of Kosovo told Radio Free Europe that from the information they have, members of the Commission are currently working intensively and reviewing various documents, but have not submitted any reports to Government.
This commission's work has focused on efforts to argue, reportedly, mistakes made in the work of the preliminary Commission, on which the border demarcation agreement with Montenegro was under way in 2015, but which from the Kosovo Assembly has remained envisioned.
Halil Matoshi, media adviser in Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj's cabinet, told Radio Free Europe, that there is no precise date when the Commission can come up with a report before the Government.
The state border commission is at work and will soon, in the opimal term, present findings before the country's government. So, in the opitmal term, but there is no exact date”, Matoshi said.
Even members of the State Commission for Sanitation and Maintaining the State Border do not know exactly when a report will be sent to Government.
Riza Smaka, a member of the Commission, said it is working right, intensively and after political influences.
We are working well, professionally, without any political influence. We will make the report in the most responsible and professionally sustainable way. I can say that and we're working seriously”, Smaka said.
During the past mandate of institutions, the then government, under the direction of former Prime Minister Isa Mustafa, had tried to put the Agreement on demarcation with Montenegro to vote, but it was strongly opposed by the opposition, part of which was current Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj.
According to claims by opponents of the demarcation agreement, which mainly come from political subjects Vetevendosje Movement and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, it is claimed that with the 2015 Agreement for the signification of the border line with Montenegro, Kosovo will lose over 8 thousand hectares of territory.
Ratification of the border demarcation agreement with Montenegro is believed to be holding the visa liberalisation process for Kosovo citizens hostage, because the European Commission has set it as a condition that Kosovo must meet for abolishing visas.
Even after the formation of the new Kosovo government, from Brussels it has become clear to Prime Minister Haradinaj and the Kosovo Assembly that ratification of the demarcation remains irreplaceable in the visa removal process.
In such a situation, Prime Minister Haradinaj and the Government of Kosovo are believed to remain to proceed with the Framework Agreement for ratification or failure, or otherwise, to try to address the issue to the International Referee.
